“Panta gelastoi kai gelasmenoi”
Ta “laika” tou Thanou Mikroutsikou
Pallas Theater | Wednesday, January 7, 2026
Performed by:
Manolis Mitsias, Giannis Kotsiras, Dimitris Basis, Giota Negka
A concert featuring all of Thanos Mikroutsikos’ “laika” —many of them unconventional, yet all of them beloved and sung countless times. For years he had considered gathering them together and presenting them in concert. He finally did so in 2013, in two performances at Pallas Theater. Thirteen years later, in the very same venue, they return with the same artists: Manolis Mitsias, Giannis Kotsiras and Dimitris Basis—this time joined by another cherished folk voice, Giota Negka.
They are accompanied by outstanding musicians, with artistic supervision once again by Thanos Mikroutsikos’ closest collaborator, Thymios Papadopoulos.
On January 7, 2026, Thanos Mikroutsikos’ songs—rich in folk spirit, sometimes unexpected, sometimes familiar—will take us on yet another journey. With lyrics by some of the greatest lyricists: Alkis Alkaios, Lina Nikolakopoulou, Kostas Tripolitis, Odysseas Ioannou, Lakis Lazopoulos, Kostas Lachas, as well as Manos Eleftheriou and the poet Nikos Kavvadias.
As Thanos Mikroutsikos himself once wrote:
And remember: The caravan marches on through the dust | Need becomes history
And all of us? Always smiling—and always fooled
