A city of wonder—the capital of imagination and memory—where the hidden sounds and intoxicating scents of the Eas,t flood your deep blue skies.
For the 2025–2026 theatrical season, Pallas Theater proudly presents Alexandria, a production conceived and directed by Fokas Evangelinos. With an original script by Zeti Fitsiou, this play takes us on a journey through time to this historical city, rekindling the magic of a bygone era through a passionate love story. A high-caliber production, Alexandria promises to deliver a rich, multi-sensory theatrical experience, blending poetry, music, and dramatic storytelling.
Set in the cosmopolitan Alexandria of the interwar years — a vibrant melting pot of races, languages, and religions — an unexpected romance unfolds, forever changing the lives of its protagonists. Against the backdrop of a turbulent Middle East, where political games and power plays reach their peak, the English, French, Arabs, and Jews each vie for dominance, pushing the “game” to its very limits.
And yet, amid this stormy landscape, the Greek spirit thrives. In the bustling Arab neighborhoods, the Greeks move as one — a pulsing force, unshaken. Beneath the vast Alexandrian sky, they live bound by a shared sense of complicity and coexistence. Through the words of their Alexandrian poet, the light of the city’s ancient lighthouse shines undimmed across the ages.
Rich in historical and cultural references, the play vividly brings to life an era when Alexandria stood as a cradle of civilization, science, and intellectual rebirth in the ancient world.
Evanthia Reboutsika’s evocative music score captures the spirit of the era with her signature style—imbuing the production with deep emotional resonance and nostalgia, echoing the soul of Alexandria through every note.
