A wondrous city—capital of memory and imagination—where hidden sounds and the intoxicating aroma of the East fill your deep blue skies.

For the 2025–2026 theater season, Pallas Theater proudly presents Alexandria, a production conceived and directed by Fokas Evangelinos. With an original script by Zeti Fitsiou, the play takes us on a journey to this eternal city, reviving the enchantment of a bygone era through a story of passion and longing.

A high-caliber theatrical event, Alexandria aspires to offer audiences a richly layered experience—one that blends poetry, music, and dramatic storytelling into a single, immersive performance.

Set in cosmopolitan Alexandria during the interwar years—a unique melting pot of races, languages, and religions—an unexpected romance is about to upend the lives of all those at its center. Amid the volatile backdrop of the Middle East, where political games and strategic rivalries reach a boiling point, English, French, Arab, and Jewish communities vie for dominance, pushing the “game” to its very limits.

And yet, in the eye of this cultural storm, the Greek spirit endures. Among the bustling Arab neighbourhoods, the Greek community moves as one—a vibrant, unshakable force. Beneath Alexandria’s endless sky, they live bound by a deep sense of kinship and shared existence. Through the words of their native Alexandrian poet, the ancient light of the city’s famed lighthouse shines on, undimmed through the centuries.

Rich in historical and cultural references, the play brings to life a time when Alexandria was a cradle of civilization, science, and the intellectual rebirth of the ancient world.

The evocative music of Evanthia Reboutsika will once again set the mood with sounds filled with emotional depth and nostalgia—sounds that echo the soul of Alexandria itself.
