“The Divine Power of Love… or All We Need is Love…”
Contemporary world choreography is constantly evolving—since the moment ballet gained global recognition, it has come a long way. Over the years, ballet has given rise to new forms and trends, such as modern, contemporary, and neoclassicism, allowing ballet to remain one of the most sought-after art forms.
The rock ballet Blind Forgiveness is a ballet where neoclassical dance intertwines with the presentation of ideas in a modern style, featuring the revelation of the plot in the form of a theatrical monologue. One could say that this is a new chapter in the multi-volume edition of ballet. The original libretto, consisting of 12 scenes, describes a story of events taking place in modern society, where priorities are often far from noble intentions. Kirill Radev masterfully conveyed the plastic images endowed with distinctive features and expressed a variety of human emotions, states, and relationships through an original choreographic language. The musical score, composed by Arseniy Smirnov, revealed the depth of the performance, its “soul.”
“Be careful when opening doors—who knows what might be there…”
Amid the urban hustle and bustle, a daring yet irresistible Young Man appears. He accidentally encounters a strange Girl moving with restraint and unhurriedly. The young man starts teasing the oddball, unaware that she is blind. Suddenly, Natalia’s purse falls, and he decides to help her. As she feels his hand in hers, she transports him to another world—a world of sin and temptation.
“There is no unforgivable sin, except the sin of unrepentance.”
The intensity and depth of change reflect on the emotional sphere and the complex, contradictory inner world of the Protagonist, who struggles to understand himself, getting lost in the intricate labyrinth of his own actions and thoughts.
Finding himself in a world that entices him with easy relationships, wealth, and empty, feigned fame, the Hero is ready to stay in this circle of sin and temptations. And only the blind woman, each time giving him a piece of her soul, pulls him out of the world of vice. It is She who gives him the opportunity to feel the bright side of his soul, to realize that he can love and be loved. It is her love that saves him.
The main message of the performance is that every person always has a chance to break free from the dark world of cruelty and evil and once again see the bright light of goodness and love. “She and her love saved him, and it is not she who is blind, but him”—these words encapsulate the essence of this ballet.
