November 20, 2017 @ 9:00 pm

The award-winning director Yannis Smaragdis returns with his new film project, honouring the greatest Greek writer and thinker, Nikos Kazantzakis. “Kazantzakis” premiered at the Pallas Theater on November 20, 2017 and will be screened in cinemas across the country.

Focusing on Greek light, the senses and colours of another era, as well as Kazantzakis’ percussive Greek speech, Yannis Smaragdis’ new portrait portrays the greatest Greek writer since Homer. The film is supported by a glittering cast of leading actors.

Yannis Smaragdis’ highly anticipated new film has already received positive reviews and there is much anticipation for its theatrical release. Greek viewers feel that the film is about them, as it is a work of Positive Energy, Love, Faith and Optimism.

The universal writer Nikos Kazantzakis said that his life is defined by his travels and dreams. The film followed these paths, and after an exciting 6-month journey of filming in Crete, Athens, Aegina, South France, Berlin and Vienna, the film will be released in cinemas on 23 November

The main character, Nikos Kazantzakis, is played in a brilliant way by Odysseas Papaspiliopoulos, while the great Marina Kalogirou plays his companion, Eleni. Eight-year-old Alexandros Kampakis plays Nikos Kazantzakis at a young age, while Stefanos Linaeus plays the author at a mature age.
