On Monday, December 11, 2017, the official premiere of the new Greek film “Jamaica” by Andreas Morfoniou took place at the Pallas Theater, on Voukourestiou Street. The event took place in the presence of the film’s cast and many guests from the world of letters, arts and media.
The official premiere was attended by director Andreas Morfonios, Spyros Papadopoulos and Fanis Mouratidis, who was also the artistic director of the film. Also present were Nikoleta Kotsailidou and Anna-Maria Papacharalambous, who complete the quartet of protagonists, composer Themis Karamouratidis and Odysseas Ioannou, who wrote the music and lyrics of the film’s songs. Finally, Giota Nega and Christos Mastoras performed the songs “Open Accounts” and “For All Ikanoi”, which can be heard in “Jamaica”.
Film case
Akis (Spyros Papadopoulos) drives a taxi and tries to cope with his debts. Timos (Fanis Mouratidis) is a famous TV presenter who lives every day as if it were his last.
Akis and Timos were two close brothers, but a misunderstanding has kept them estranged for years. Life, however, finds a way to bring them together again, unexpectedly and decisively.
A touching, tender, optimistic and utterly human film about the sweeping power of life and brotherly love that transcends all past misunderstandings.
Shared memories, journeys far away to Jamaica – the hearing they shared as children -, Timos’ boundless humour and Akis’ pure soul, weave a spine-tingling and redemptive story that is full of humour, emotion and love for life.
