DESCRIPTION:“Lina Nikolakopoulou – Natan I Chara Oikopedo” \nMonday\, 13 January 2025 \n\n\nWho could have imagined\, after that unforgettable evening at the Asty Cinema in the heart of Athens\, on Korai Street\, where I sat enthralled watching Time of the Gypsies\, that it would mark the beginning of such an extraordinary journey? It was a journey that\, thankfully\, has brought me immense joy over the years as songs came to life\, inspired by those fiery\, soul-stirring Balkan melodies. \n\n\nMore than 35 years have passed since that night.\nAnd yet\, it all feels as vivid as if it were yesterday. \n\n\nWeddings\, christenings\, celebrations\, love stories — all found their sound\, voice\, and lyrics. \n\n\nBregovic’s Paradechtika paved the way for Kiki Lesendric’s The Road with the Brass\, and even now\, I am deeply moved\, continuing to write lyrics that embrace the rhythms and melodies of the Balkans. These sounds live on\, most recently in My First Rose. \n\n\nI warmly invite you to join me in celebrating this remarkable journey as we welcome the new year. Let us gather at Pallas Theatre on January 13\, 2025\, and\, once again\, “like mischievous kids\, let us meet there!” \n\n\nWith heartfelt joy\,\nLina Nikolakopoulou \nContributors: \n\n\nThe outstanding 10-member orchestra Salonique Brass Band will bring the vibrant Balkan music and distinct melodies of Lina’s songs to life\, accompanied by: \nGlykeria and Pitsa Papadopoulou\, two legendary voices who have always celebrated our folk traditions and cultural roots. \nAlongside them\, four exceptional artists from the younger generation\, personally chosen by Lina Nikolakopoulou for this event: Sofia Papazoglou\, Thodoris Voutsikakis\, Aspasia Stratigou\, and Apostolos Kitsos. \n\n\nBeloved singer Manolis Mitsias and Serbian composer and performer Kiki Lesendric will join us for a never-ending “party\,” imbued with the boundless\, Dionysian energy of Balkan rhythms. \nSpecial Guests: Marina Satti  \nProduction: “Cricos” & “Apoichos Techni & Politismos” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets

DESCRIPTION:The Performance \n  \nWith the melodies and poetry of the legendary Mikis Theodorakis at its core\, director Giorgos Valaris presents a newly envisioned production of Omorfi Poli on the stage of Pallas Theatre. This performance serves as a heartfelt tribute to the late composer\, marking the “Mikis Theodorakis Tribute Year”—a national celebration officially proclaimed by the Ministry of Culture—and commemorating the centenary of his birth in 2025. \nThis reimagined “Omorfi Poli”\, unites an extraordinary ensemble of talent. Leading vocalists Manolis Mitsias\, Eleni Vitali\, and Dimitris Basis join forces with distinguished performers Lydia Koniordou\, Tania Tsanaklidou\, and the award-winning Michalis Sarantis\, alongside gifted dancers Faidra Daioglou and Kostis Tsiamagkas\, accompanied by an exceptional seven-member orchestra. \nFirst staged in 1962 and revived to critical acclaim in 2020 at the Athens and Thessaloniki Concert Halls and the Herodion Theatre\, this production returns to Pallas Theatre from January 31 to February 9\, 2025. \nIn this evocative production\, Theodorakis’s poetic works—some presented for the very first time—are paired with prose by Giorgos Valaris\, exploring enduring themes of human experience and the Greek spirit: love\, exile\, loss\, and identity.
