DESCRIPTION:Season: 2022\nStart: 19 March 2022\nEnd: 30 October 2022\n\n\nMichael Frayn’s iconic\, famous comedy “Noises Off” comes to Pallas Theatre\, directed by Konstantinos Markoulakis\, with a star-studded cast on stage! \nKonstantinos Markoulakis directs for the first time a pure comedy\, immediately after the success of “The Third Wedding” – the great production that managed to triumph even in the pandemic era – again at Pallas Theatre. This time\, he puts his stamp on this frenetic comedy\, not only leading an all-star company\, but also taking to the stage himself. Joining him in the organized chaos of this masterfully written comic farce are Smaragda Karidi\, Odysseus Papaspiliopoulos\, Stefania Goulioti\, George Chrysostomou and Lena Papaligura. The team is completed by George Psychogios\, Daphne David and George Zygouris.\n“Save” has been presented several times in the past in Greece. The first time it was directed by Andreas Voutsinas\, at the “Minoa” theatre in 1983. In 1995 it was presented in the production of Stamatis Fassoulis at the “Athinaion” theatre. \nThe original play “Noises Off” premiered in 1982 in London. The spine-tingling comedy was written several years earlier\, when the award-winning English playwright Michael Frayn (Olivier Awards 1976 & 1982\, Tony Award 2000\, EMMY Award 1990\, etc.)\, inspired “Noises Off” in 1970\, while watching from the box seats of a London theatre a theatrical farce written for comedian Lynn Redgrave. Later\, he said: “it was funnier to watch it from the quintet than from the theatre square\, and I thought one day I should write a theatre comedy about all that goes on behind the scenes.” \nKonstantinos Markoulakis\, Smaragda Karidi\, Odysseas Papaspiliopoulos\, Stefania Goulioti\, Giorgos Chrysostomou and Lena Papaligoura in a hilarious comedy that becomes “the save”. \n\n\nDirection: Konstantinos Markoulakis\nStages: Paris Mexis\nMusic: Minos Matsas\nLighting: Dimitris Koutas\nCostumes: Royal Wire\nMovement: Kiki Baka\nAssistant Director: Christina Matthaiou\nStage Designer Assistants:\nAlegia Papageorgiou\, Evi Andrianou\nCostume designer assistant: Katerina Arianoutsou

SUMMARY:The Third Wreath at Pallas Theater
DESCRIPTION:Season: 2020-2022\nStart: 16 October 2020\nEnd: 9 January 2022 \nKostas Tachtis’ masterpiece “The Third Wreath” is revived at the Pallas Theater with the signature of Konstantinos Markoulakis\, with the audience enjoying the iconic roles of Hecave and Nina played by Maria Kavoyannis and Maria Kitsou. \nA troupe of talented actors and actresses enters the vortex of Minos Matsas’ new\, original music\, bringing to the stage the sounds and images of an entire era. \nThis is a major production of the Theatrikes Skines\, which will be presented in a new adaptation\, highlighting the poetry and narrative qualities of the novel\, with absolute respect to the author and his intention to present a story that opens and closes like a cycle\, just like life itself. \nA testimony of memory where\, through the personal stories of the heroes\, the entire modern history of Greece is highlighted in a style that\, although it does not aim to teach\, captures with a rare humour all that one deserves to fight for in this life. \nA novel that has been a milestone for Kostas Tsakhtsis and one of the most beloved by the Greek public throughout time. \nIn fact\, in the past it was made into a serial by Yannis Dalianidis\, winning the TV audience\, while it was also the material for many successful performances directed by Stamatis Fassoulis and Thanasis Papageorgiou. \nBut what is it\, what attracts the viewer to “Third Wreath”? What makes it timeless and always relevant? It is the ruthless affirmation of life. This realism that resists and remains unaffected by any form of acting. It is the very characters of this drama. Characters of steel\, people of another era who ache\, suffer\, cry bitterly\, kneel\, bleed but never give up hope\, never lose faith in life and in what each tomorrow holds. They courageously stand up to every difficulty\, laugh out loud\, showing the way. \nThrough the story of two women\, who pull the strings of the men’s fate\, a picture of post-war society emerges with flashbacks to the Balkan era\, Asia Minor\, with direct references to the Metaxas era\, the Occupation and with emphasis on the civil war and post-civil war landscape. \nHecave and Nina love each other\, cool off\, talk incessantly and are only silent in the face of what transcends them\, always carrying the beautiful and strange burden of the homeland that gave birth to them\, as “mythologized” by Elytis: “Beautiful and strange homeland / Like the one I never saw / Casting to catch fish catching feathered ones / Setting up on earth a boat garden in the waters / Crying kissing the soil alienated / Staying on the five roads manly […]” \nA genuine Roman mosaic of emotions\, rich in Greekness. The audience will appreciate the adventures of Hecave and Nina\, but also the collective adventure of the Roman\, projected in the background\, as “The Third Wreath” will reveal where Hecave and Nina began\, showing them what our life is today and why it is this and no other… \nCredits: \nDirected by Konstantinos Markoulakis\nAdaptation: Konstantinos Markoulakis\, Nikos Manousakis\nSets: Parris Mexis\nMusic: Minos Matsas\nLighting: Alekos Yannaros\nCostumes: Claire Bracewell\nMotion: Kiki Baka\nAssistant Director: Christina Matthaiou\nPhotos: Elina Younani\nProduction: Theatrikes Skines \nStars \nKostas Andalopoulos\, Irini Valatsou\, Dani Giannakopoulou\, Danae Epithymiadi\, Maria Kavogianni\, Dimitris Karaviotis\, Syremo Kecke\, Maria Kitsou\, Tasos Lekkas\, Ornella Louti\, George Makris\, Dimitris Mandrinos\, Stathis Mantzoros\, Kalliroi Miriangou\, George Nousis\, Eleftheria Pagalou\, Alexandra Pantelaki\, Elisa Skolidi\, Menela Hazarakis\, George Psychogios

SUMMARY:Moby Dick at Pallas Theater
DESCRIPTION:Season: 2020\nStart: 28 February 2020\n\nEnd: 11 March 2020 \nOnassis Culture in collaboration with Theatrical Scenes present at Pallas Theater from 28 February 2020 one of the greatest works of world literature of all time\, which is transformed into a musical (libretto and musical composition) by Dimitris Papadimitriou\, directed by Yannis Kakleas. A thrilling musical adventure takes theatrical form and is transferred to the stage of Pallas Theater with innovations in set design\, holograms\, 3D graphics\, live orchestra and choreography. \nA curse. An omen. A man-eating caterpillar. A demonic\, strange fairy-tale adventure or a philosophical workshop of ideas? Dimitris Papadimitriou\, in collaboration with Yannis Kakleas\, and with a great team of performers\, are staging at the Pallas Theater  the masterpiece of world literature and the fifth most widely read book in the history of Mankind\, Herman Melville’s Moby Dick. Friendship\, human destiny and the relationship between man’s limits and God on the stage of the Pallas Theater from 28 February 2020. \n\n\nThe mythical Moby Dick was transformed into a modern musical by the Greek composer\, who did the adaptation\, libretto\, lyrics and of course composed the music.\nIt is a work for the whole family\, as its multi-layered story makes it both a breathtaking children’s adventure and a profound philosophical text. Yannis Kakleas’ direction brings Dimitris Papadimitriou’s musical to life on the city’s largest and most central theatre stage with the fairytale sets by Manolis Pantelidakis and the choreography by Angeliki Trombukis\, the costumes by Ilenia Doujeleris accompanied by the impressive and novel holograms and 3d animation by Panagiotis Rappas that go beyond the hitherto known theatrical stereotypes.  \nThe story of a charming\, “crazy” captain who convinces his entire crew to follow him on his inner mission: to conquer his limits\, Nature\, his Fate\, to reach and surpass God. Moby Dick’s dark fairy-tale metaphysics\, his thrilling naval adventure\, his gritty story\, his theosophical quest are a beam of light in the dark labyrinths that man travels-today more than ever-in his quest for self-knowledge. \n\n\n\nIn this play\, the evil Captain Ahab ends up a controversial Saint\, the neglected and wounded Man seeking to regain the attention and love of his Father and God. By the end of the play\, he has captivated the entire crew and audience along with him. They are asked to choose a “side” between the tragic hero\, the unyielding fighter of Truth Captain Ahab\, the one-man righteous family man Starbuck (first lieutenant)\, the indifferent joker Stump (second lieutenant)\, the one-dimensional\, shallow materialist “third” Flask and finally the sensitive intellectual\, the “historical chronicler” Ishmael. \nLike all masterpieces\, Moby Dick is a perpetual “genetic laboratory” of ideas. Just put the right concepts into the same story and they will in turn reproduce and spawn millions of new ideas and their combinations. This is how the masterpiece is reborn into the ages. \nLibretto & music composition:  Dimitris Papadimitriou\nDirector:  Yannis Kakleas \n\n\n\nMOBY DICK – COORDINATORS \nLyrics – Music: Dimitris Papadimitriou\nDirector: Yannis Kakleas\nProduction Executive: Gg Productions\nSets: Manolis Pantelidakis\n3D Animation: Panagiotis Rappas\nCostumes: Ilenia Doudeleri\nLighting: Stella Kaltsou\nTechnical Director of Holographic Projection: Vassilis Leonidopoulos\nChoreography: Angeliki Trombuki\nSound Recording: Yannis Lampropoulos\nComposer’s Assistant: Tasos Rosopoulos\nAssistant Director: Feli Moschos\nFelios Moschos Production Management: Konstantinos Sayas\nProduction Manager: Spyros Hatzanis \nStars (in alphabetical order) are: \nBabis Velissarios\nThodoris Voutsikakis\nNicolas Karagiouris\nVassilis Kourtis\nIvan Svitailo\nEmilianos Stamatakis \nStill playing (alphabetically): \nSamuel Akinola\nAntonis Vlachos\nDimitris Georgalas\nKonstantinos Efstratiou\nOrpheus Zafeiropoulos\nJerome Kaluta\nThodoris Bouzikakos\nMarios Petkidis\nPhoebus Rimenas\nPolycarp Filippidis\nDimitris Fourlis \nAlso participating is a ten-member orchestra

The main objective of the programme is to help young children to recognise the difference between “safe” and “not-safe” touching and to learn to say NO. At the same time\, the programme offers a corresponding training for parents and teachers to raise awareness\, identify and respond to the phenomenon. \nThe ultimate goal is to integrate the programme in all public schools in Greece by 2021\, combined with a comprehensive information campaign for parents\, teachers and citizens. \nFor a project that saves lives\, ELIZA receives no financial support from a governmental source and relies solely on the trust and love of society. \nThose who wish to contribute to the effort by purchasing a ticket for the musical evening can do so through www.viva.gr and from the Pallas Theater box office.

SUMMARY:The Life of Aristotle Onassis at Pallas Theater
DESCRIPTION:Season: 2019-2020\nStart: 10 November 2019\nEnd: 12 January 2020\nTitle of the show: “Onassis: I want it all”\n\n\nThe 2019-20 theatrical season will begin with a highly anticipated production that will be discussed\, with Theatrical Scenes presenting for the first time worldwide at Pallas Theater\, an original play on the life of Aristotle Onassis\, the Greek who marked the international course of the second half of the 20th century with his international career. \nIn October 2019\, Stamatis Fassoulis will sign and direct the performance “Onassis – I want it all”\, which will theatrically capture the personality and action of a man who was and still is a benchmark of business and lived as the richest man in the world. \nThe life of Aristotle Onassis resembles a modern fairy tale and as such has been told hundreds of times in publications from all over the world\, film adaptations and even books. The turbulent life of a ‘sharp’ mind who ‘read’ his times and managed to become one of the most powerful men of the 20th century. In an eventful professional and personal career on all levels\, he clashed with the greatest economic and political interests of the time\, and at the same time connected with and made his mark on the most iconic and famous women of the era\, such as Tina Livanou\, Jackie Kennedy and Maria Callas. Courage and entrepreneurial instinct\, that was what characterized him and was the diptych of his success. \n\n\n\nThe performance by Stamatis Fassoulis\, consisting of a company of 30 actors\, based on international literature\, journalistic research and personal testimonies\, will be a theatrical performance of Onassis’ life with all the elements of genuine theater. Action\, suspense\, hubris and catharsis. \nIn the role of Aristotle Onassis\, Stamatis Fassoulis. As for the women in his life\, Jackie Kennedy is played by Dimitra Matsouka\, Maria Callas by Katerina Papoutsaki and Tina Livanou by Eugenia Dimitropoulou. In the role of the demonic journalist who investigates and records his life\, Memos Begnis. Onassis at a young age is played by Agesilaos Mikelatos. \n\n\n\nONASSIS: I WANT IT ALL by STATMATIS FASOULIS \nDirected by Stamatis Fassoulis\nSets: George Gavalas\nCostumes: Deni Vakhlioti\nMusic: Costis Maraveyas\nLighting: Lefteris Pavlopoulos\nAssistant Director: Pavlos Sahpekidis\nPhotos: George Kavallierakis \nSTARS: Stamatis Fassoulis\, Dimitra Matsouka\, Katerina Papoutsaki\, Memos Begnis\, Eugenia Dimitropoulou\, Agisilaos Mikelatos \nSTILL PLAYING ALPHABETICALLY \nYannis Athitakis\, Manolis Gerapetritis\, Dimitris Gotsopoulos\, Dimitris Arabesis\, Tatiana Melidou\, Despina Polykandritou\, Eleni Roussinou\, Jenny Skarlatou\, Nikos Stavrakoudis\, Koralia Tsonga\, Kostas Falelakis

SUMMARY:Wim Mertens at Pallas Theater
DESCRIPTION:Season: 2019\nOpening: 22 October 2019\nEnd: 22 October 2019\n\n\nThe “architect” of minimalism returns to Greece! \nThe pioneering European minimalist composer and one of the world’s leading contemporary composers comes to Greece at the Pallas Theater in Athens (22/10). In a journey through space and time with beauty as his guide! \nFaithful to his repetitive structures\, he has managed to spread minimalist music in unexpected spaces and make it popular with “unsuspecting” audiences\, thanks to the particular melodic sensibility that permeates all his compositions\, and the characteristic timbre of his voice\, a falsetto that seems to come from the piano itself and that simultaneously “spas” the norms of contemporary music. The Flemish composer\, who “is not classical enough for classical music lovers and at the same time is too classical for the pop world”\, will in a year’s time celebrate 40 years of a very productive career. \n\n\n\nSince the early 80s\, the versatile Belgian composer\, musicologist\, counter-tenor\, guitarist and pianist Wim Mertens has managed to gain an appeal to a wide audience\, always working with a focus on minimalism and positioning music as a basic human expressive need: “I don’t belong to the category of professional musicians who approach all musical genres. That’s why I felt from my first steps that I should create a new audience for my music… Especially in Greece you are looking for more flexible musical interpretations and I feel that the audience is open to my inspirations\, they understand the way I sing in an unconventional language and most importantly they make my music their own” he told Anastasia Kouka in ETHNOS. \nIn his discography he has recorded around 70 albums\, some of which have become almost classical. From the score for Jan Fabre’s The Power of Theatrical Madness (1984) and Peter Greenaway’s award-winning film The Belly of An Architect (1987) to the now classic albums of minimalist composition – a milestone in his career\, Vergessen (1982)\, Struggle for pleasure (1983) and Maximizing the Audience (1985) – the first album on which he added a voice\, his own. \n\n\n\nOne thing is for sure\, Mertens never repeated musical forms because they were successful or standardized for the sake of commercial appeal. \nMertens was born in Neerpelt\, Belgium in 1953. He started learning guitar at the age of eight and after 10 years of continuous involvement with music\, he obtained his first degree in 1975 – against the odds – in social and political sciences\, seeking the answer to the question “what ultimately determines historical events\, what are the factors\, what are the elements that drive history”\, realising that all art forms change and are shaped by following historical events. \nEventually\, he studied musicology at the University of Ghent and higher theory and piano at the Ghent Conservatory and the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. His doctoral dissertation (1980) eventually became the famous book “American Minimal Music”\, a landmark text on American repetitive music by LaMonte Young\, Terry Riley\, Steve Reich\, and Philip Glass. “This music showed me that there are new areas to explore and we must not rest on our laurels or we will lead to musical sterility.” \n\n\nSince 1978\, when he was working as a producer at the then Belgian Radio – Television\, he performed concerts of Philip Glass\, Steve Reich\, Terry Riley\, Meredith Monk\, Urban Sax and others and thus he got acquainted with American minimalist music. He admired American composers “who feel free and work more by intuition as opposed to the Europeans whose war has taken them back and put many barriers and in their compositions they strive for seriousness and logical sequencing”. He also co-produced the Funky Town radio program with Gust De Meyer\, his main collaborator on the experimental album “For Amusement Only”\, where they wrote electronic music for… pinball machines.\n\n\nMertens has managed to find the popular parameters of contemporary music and uses them in compositions either for symphony orchestras and smaller orchestral ensembles\, or pieces for piano and voice (his own\, always) or for “minimalist” and unexpected combinations of instruments (twelve piccolos\, ten trombones\, thirteen clarinets). “In music there is always the difference between what you see and what you hear … I say you see what you hear. The listener has to understand through hearing. To move away from conventional codes\, such as language\, and to understand with clarity the composer’s creation … I translate silence as a phase within the music. I incorporate elements of silence and atonality into my music\, far from the rules of tradition.” he told Dimitris Doulgeridis in NEA. \nIn the first part of his two concerts in Greece\, Wim Mertens will present his most recent work\, “That Which is Not” from 2018\, which according to him combines “logical flow with the playful element and the concepts of fun with virtue”. \n\n\n\nThis work along with his recent releases\, “Dust of truths”\, “What are we\, lock\, to do?” and “Charaktersketch”\, published together in a cassette entitled “Cran aux oeufs”\, confirm his excellence and charisma\, both in terms of composition and interpretation. \nIn the second part of his concerts in Thessaloniki and Athens\, the audience will enjoy a selection of the best known tracks from the composer’s rich discography (1980 – 2018)\, tracks that are particularly loved by the Greek audience: “Often a bird”\, “Struggle for pleasure”\, “Not at home”\, “Close cover”\, “The tonality”\, “4 Mains”\, “No testament” and many more.

SUMMARY:Ara Malikian: The rock star of the violin at Pallas Theater
DESCRIPTION:Season: 2019\nStart: 27 September 20219\nEnd: 28 September 2019\n\n\nAra Malikian Royal Garage World Tour for the first time in Greece! \nRock violin star Ara Malikian and his orchestra are coming to Pallas Theater\, on 27 & 28 September 2019. \nAra Malikian is coming to conquer the Greek audience with his unparalleled temperament.  The charismatic violinist’s world tour\, entitled ROYAL GARAGE WORLD TOUR\, started on the occasion of his new album and “travels” to over 50 countries\, with at least 220 sold-out performances in iconic music venues such as the Royal Albert Hall in London\, Carnegie Hall in New York\, Tempodrom in Berlin\, Volkswagen Arena in Istanbul\, National Auditorium in Mexico and L’Olympia in Paris. \nWith his irresistible personality and infectious energy\, Ara Malikian has recorded over 40 albums and won numerous international awards. He is now established as one of the most sought-after musicians and has shared the stage with many major artists and orchestras\, including Sting\, Lebanese singer Fairuz\, the London Chamber Orchestra and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. \n\n\n\nIn this tour Ara takes a journey through many different musical styles. Known for his eclectic repertoire\, Ara Malikian and his explosive orchestra present subversive arrangements of works from Bowie to Bach and from “Missirlou” to Led Zeppelin and Paganini.  The essence of his music is forged from his travels around the world. Born in 1968 in Lebanon\, of Armenian descent\, he gave his first concert at the age of 12\, chose to study music in Germany and later in London\, and for many years has lived in Spain. \nAra Malikian\, together with his band of 7 great musicians\, shares with the audience his musical culture\, which he won “from the depths of garages all over the world”\, with his new album “Royal Garage”. \n\n\n\n“My relationship with garages began in 1976\, when the war broke out in Lebanon. At that time\, most bands around the world were rehearsing in garages. In the garages with their sounds\, they created an alternative style that changed the history of music\, and I didn’t want to be a part of that development.  I was 10 years old when my father was telling me to encourage me: “Let’s go down to the garage\, son. We’re going to form a band\, like … Rollings.” My band wasn’t as cool as the Rolling Stones’ band. I didn’t associate with Keith Richards or Mick Jagger and we were NOT talking about rock and avant-garde music… I had my Uncle Nono waiting for me with a half broken trumpet\, my neighbor with a bottle of aniseed liqueur and my grandmother with a mandolin. Then came the other garages… The German\, the English\, the Parisian\, the Spanish… I seem to be destined for them. Fascinating things happen to me in the garages.” Ara Malikian

SUMMARY:Bernard-Henri Lévy at Pallas Theater
DESCRIPTION:United against populism\, with the people of Athens \nA play written and performed by French writer and philosopher Bernard-Henri Lévy for a theatrical tour of 20 European cities from March to May 2019. \nLooking for Europe is the internal monologue of an intellectual holed up in a hotel room in Sarajevo with 90 minutes to compose an important speech about Europe. \nShould he begin with Greek mythology? With German philosophy? Or with how Europe has grappled with totalitarian tyranny and misery over the past century? \nUnfortunately\, all that comes to mind are desolate images of an old continent beset by waves of nationalism\, racism\, xenophobia and anti-Semitism unprecedented since the 1930s. The gilets jaunes (“Yellow Vests”)… The alliance of right and left-wing demagogues in Italy… The emergence of illiberal dictatorships in central Europe… \nHe is about concede failure when\, in a poetic and spectacular turn of events\, the ghosts of Dante\, Goethe\, and Vaclav Havel return to suggest a way out of the maze of populism and to assure him that the worst is not a foregone conclusion… \nAn ode to Europe and an attempt to resurrect the spirit of Spinoza\, of the novelists of the Austro-Hungarian Empire\, of Lech Walesa and Picasso\, Looking for Europe is a traveling performance that calls for democratic resistance and a revival of hope in the weeks preceding the European elections of May 2019. \nUp to the very last minute\, in good Elizabethan style\, the text of Looking for Europe will be rewritten and adapted to respond to the political situation and current events in each of the 20 cities in which it is presented. As an interactive experience\, members of the public will be invited to post questions to lookingforeurope.eu before each performance and then watch Bernard-Henri Lévy integrate and respond to those questions in his on-stage stream of consciousness. \nThe play will be performed in French with electronic subtitling in the language of the host country or English without subtitles. The run-time is 90 minutes. \nPhilosopher Bernard-Henri Lévy is the author of forty books\, including The Empire and the Five Kings\, Barbarism with a Human Face and Who Killed Daniel Pearl? His documentaries include Peshmerga\, The Oath of Tobruk\, and Bosna! \nCommitted from his youth to the struggle against totalitarianism\, and today to the fight against the criminal alliance of Trump and Putin\, Lévy offers this play as a distillation of his personal experience. \nSURTITLES IN PALLAS THEATER \nThe play will be performed in French with Greek surtitles. The run-time is 90 minutes. \nSurtitles are in Greek. Recommended seats are the ones in the last rows of the stalls (below 10th row) and in the dress and upper circle.

SUMMARY:Notre Dame de Paris by Victor Hugo at the Pallas Theater
DESCRIPTION:Season: 2018-2019\nStart: 3 November 2018\nEnd: 17 March 2019\nPerformance title: Notre Dame de Paris\n\n\nOne of the masterpieces of world literature\, “Notre Dame de Paris” by Victor Hugo\, is presented this year’s 2018-19 theatre season at the Pallas Theater. \nA super production that continues the great success of last year’s “Don Quixote”\, which was attended by over 100 thousand spectators. The same creative team of “Don Quixote” is collaborating on “Notre Dame” and aspires to offer audiences a show equally popular for the whole family. “Notre Dame de Paris” is being staged by Sophia Spyratou\, who in recent years has given us children’s shows that have won the admiration and trust of both young and old audiences alike\, such as: “Don Quixote”\, “Theseus and Ariadne on Bull Island”\, “Jason and the Golden Fleece”\, etc. The poet Stratis Paschalis is the author of the adapted classical text\, the original music is by Nikos Kipourgis\, the lighting is by Lefteris Pavlopoulos\, the sets and costumes are by Manolis Pantelidakis. \n\n\nThe leading roles are played by Dimitris Pyatas (Quasimodo)\, Nadia Kontogeorgis (Esmeralda)\, Thodoris Katsafados (Bishop Frolo)\, George Simeonidis (Gregoire)\, Dimitris Gotsopoulos (Phoebus)\, Kostas Maglaras (Chief of Gypsies)\, Alexandros Psychhramis (King Louis) and the lyrical singers Marios Petkidis\, Ioannis Kontellis (Two Griffins). Together with them\, a 20-member troupe of actors\, dancers\, acrobats\, musicians and singers perform the roles of the impressive performance.\n\n\n“Notre Dame de Paris” speaks about diversity and social discrimination\, about the much-discussed modern bullying\, which we find the same as today’s bullying during the Middle Ages\, about pure\, selfless love\, which goes as far as absolute giving and love\, about the authoritarianism and arbitrary power that crush or manipulate the common man. A deeply human poem that will take us on a journey through the stories of the good Quasimodo and the beautiful Esmeralda\, full of magic and humour\, truth and fairy tale\, action and song\, tears and joy. \nWith respect to the essence and atmosphere of the classical narrative\, but adapted to today’s linguistic and aesthetic perceptions and conditions\, so that children of all ages can follow it with comfort and interest\, but also draw useful moral lessons\, beneficial for their souls. \nA performance for the whole family based on a gem of European romanticism. \nAt the Pallas Theatre\, young and old alike will be entertained and applaud another theatrical gem! \n\n\nText: Stratis Paschalis\nDirection-choreography: Sofia Spyratou\nMusic: Nikos Kypourgos\nSets and costumes: Manolis Pantelidakis\nLighting design: Lefteris Pavlopoulos  \nProduction direction: Christina Niarou\nProduction execution: Dimitris Synodinos\nSpecial constructions: Alexandros Logos\nPhotos: Studio Vrettos\nContact: Irini Lagorou \n\n\nQuasimodo: Dimitris Piatas\nEsmeralda: Nadia Kontogeorgi\nFrollo: Thodoris Katsafados\nGregoire: George Simeonidis\nPhoebus: Dimitris Gotsopoulos\nLeader Of The Gypsies: Kostas Maglaras\nKing Louis: Alexander Psychramis\nGrypas A’: Marios Petkidis\nGrypas B’: Ioannis Kontellis\n\n\nWith them are (alphabetically): Angelos Antonakos\, Artemis Vavatsika\, Stratos Yaptse\, Iris Katraki\, Andreas Lavner\, Iris Mara\, Kosmas Metaxopoulos\, Natasa Sarantopoulou\, Yiannis Smeros\, Kostas Tsiamagas\, Eleanna Fovou\, Evi Hatzakis .

SUMMARY:Stamatis Spanoudakis presents his new album at Pallas Theater
DESCRIPTION:At Pallas Theater\, on 29 & 30 October 2018\, at 9:00 pm\, Stamatis Spanoudakis will present his new album entitled “Psyche mou\, don’t bend”. \n“A lyric from 2003 that becomes a song\, that becomes an album\, that becomes a concert. A “conversation” secret that calls to the inner life and to avoiding the daily traps of the “world”. A music that is sweet but also manly\, a melodic breath to what troubles and frightens us. To what is happening around and within us. Intentionally and unintentionally”\, Stamatis Spanoudakis emphasizes. \n“Greeks\, heads up! The sayings of our ancestors that “blood\, tears and sacrifices ask for you”\, the “Awesome Protection”\, the comfort that is generously given to us and the eternal presence that asks persistently\, but gently\, to finally open the door of your heart. A concert\, then\, with new songs and old favorites\, in a “wrong time” that proves to be so appropriate for those who “fight the good fight”\, concludes the well-known creator. \n\n\n\nWith him: \nthe string orchestra “Tamalo”\, with Alexandros Papadiamantis (violin) and Dimitris Kottaridis (cello) as soloists\, \nPanos Katsikiotis (drums)\, Nikos Hatzopoulos (double bass)\, Giorgos Kontovas (piano) \nthe four-voice choir “Melodoi” conducted by George Ziakas\, \nand the Spyros Lambrou Children’s Choir. \nThe proceeds of the concert will be donated to the children’s institutions of the Holy Metropolis of Singapore and South Asia. Specifically\, it will be given for the education\, housing and medical care of 1\,000 children in Medan\, Indonesia\, where the Holy Metropolis operates 5 schools (kindergarten\, elementary\, middle school\, high school\, polytechnic school)\, a boarding school and a hospital. With this care\, children from the slums of Medan are rescued from gangs\, abuse\, drugs and crime\, and educated so that they can live as adults in their homeland and not be forced to take the dangerous path of illegal immigration.

SUMMARY:The Rotating Dervishes Mevlevi at Pallas Theater
DESCRIPTION:Centred on the dance of the Dervishes\, we will follow the evolution of the ritual dance of the Sufis and how a secret dance can be translated into modern language and expression. \nOnce again we will enjoy the Spinning Dervishes of the “Mevlevi” Order with their ecstatic rotary dance \, while for the first time in Athens the well-known and exceptional dancer and choreographer\, the so-called Subversive Spinning Dervish\, Ziya Azazi\, will present the much talked about performance “Dervish In Progress”. \n\n\nThe Mevlevi Revolving Dervishes are members of the oldest order of Sufis \, founded in the 13th century by Gelalentin Rumi\, who for many scholars was considered one of the greatest mystical poets of the human race and by his contemporaries\, was given the name “Mevlana” meaning “our teacher”.\nThe Dervishes\, through a centuries-old choral rite\, seek to purify the human soul. The common goal of all the Sufi orders of the Dervishes\, and their supreme desire\, is their union with the Beloved (God) and the “Sema”\, their ecstatic\, rotating dance\, is the basic vehicle for the realization of their goal.\nThe Dervishes revolve around themselves to the sounds of traditional music\, while moving in circles across the stage.\n\nZiya Azazi was born in Antioch\, Turkey\, but lives permanently in Vienna. He started his studies on modern dance and in 1999 he began to explore traditional Sufi dance. In the same year he was named as the most impressive dancer of the year by “Ballet International Magazine” which made him widely known.\nContinuing his rising career he collaborates with major theatres as a choreographer and solo dancer\, such as Vienna Volksoper ( where he still teaches today ) \, Theaterhaus Stuttgart\, Grand Théâtre de Geneve etc. He has performed in many festivals and theatre stages all over the world\, always with standing ovation\, has won many awards for his work\, and has collaborated with many renowned artists\, e.g. Jan Fabre\, Silvert Hoyem\, Mercen Dede\, Burhan Ocal.\n\nBased on the rotational movement of the Dervishes\, he presents a modern and highly artistic view of the Sufi dance. His technique has been described worldwide as a masterpiece.\nHis performance “Dervish in Progress” has been performed all over the world\, everywhere arousing the enthusiasm of audiences and remains to be considered one of his most important performances\, a landmark performance\, where he showed for the first time how such a culture of mysticism as the Sufis can be translated into modern language and expression.
