In the times we live in, we are increasingly finding that we need common points of reference. If our musical tradition is such a point of reference, then one of its prince-expressors is expanding and multiplying its potential, considered by many of his colleagues as a “national asset”. And he is none other than the clarinetist Thanasis Vassilopoulos. In a series of performances, starting from the historic Pallas Theater in Bucharest, he proposes the musical coupling of East and West, marrying the traditional clarinet with the elegant sounds of American musicals and soundtracks.<\/p>\n

In this magical journey, the accompaniment of the instruments by the symphonic ensemble “Foux ensemble” under the direction of conductor George Zachariou, contributes to the creation of a dreamy musical retrospective, thus exalting the airy sound of Thanasis Vassilopoulos’ clarinet.<\/p>\n

The interpretation of songs from both Greek and world cinema was chosen to be performed by people who have tasted and starred on the theatre stage. Thus, Thanasis Alehuras, Bessie Malfa, Memos Begnis and Tania Trypi, undertake this time with their vocal and not their acting skills, to enchant us in exactly the same way as they have been impressing for years, winning the audience’s critics for their interpretive skills.<\/p>\n

As for the program, Frank Sinatra’s iconic My way, acquires a unique identity from the peculiar sound of Th. Vassilopoulos, which has been praised from time to time by both Vangelis Papathanasiou and great Greek artists. The orchestral arrangements will be played and songs such as the Oscar-winning Chariots of fire, the optimistic La vita e bella, the theatrical Memories, the mythical and also Oscar-winning The Godfather, Singing in the rain, the melody of Phaedra, Hartino the moon and many… many… many more… will be performed.<\/p>\n

A performance in which Thanasis Vassilopoulos “reinvents” well-known songs, choreographing the notes to paint the air. Imagination… is a Greek affair, as he says.<\/p>\n
