Who could have imagined, after that unforgettable evening at the Asty Cinema in the heart of Athens, on Korai Street, where I sat enthralled watching\u00a0Time of the Gypsies,<\/i> that it would mark the beginning of such an extraordinary journey? It was a journey that, thankfully, has brought me immense joy over the years as songs came to life, inspired by those fiery, soul-stirring Balkan melodies.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

More than 35 years have passed since that night.
\nAnd yet, it all feels as vivid as if it were yesterday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Weddings, christenings, celebrations, love stories \u2014 all found their sound, voice, and lyrics.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Bregovic\u2019s\u00a0Paradechtika<\/i>\u00a0paved the way for Kiki Lesendric\u2019s\u00a0The Road with the Brass,<\/i>\u00a0and even now, I am deeply moved, continuing to write lyrics that embrace the rhythms and melodies of the Balkans. These sounds live on, most recently in\u00a0My First Rose.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

I warmly invite you to join me in celebrating this remarkable journey as we welcome the new year. Let us gather at Pallas Theatre on January 13, 2025, and, once again, \u201clike mischievous kids, let us meet there!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The outstanding 10-member orchestra\u00a0Salonique Brass Band<\/i><\/strong> will bring the vibrant Balkan music and distinct melodies of Lina\u2019s songs to life, accompanied by:<\/p>\n

Glykeria<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0Pitsa Papadopoulou,<\/b> two legendary voices who have always celebrated our folk traditions and cultural roots.<\/p>\n

Alongside them, four<\/b>\u00a0exceptional artists from the younger generation, personally chosen by Lina Nikolakopoulou for this event:\u00a0Sofia Papazoglou, Thodoris Voutsikakis, Aspasia Stratigou,\u00a0<\/b>and\u00a0Apostolos Kitsos<\/b>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Beloved singer Manolis Mitsias<\/strong> and Serbian composer and performer Kiki Lesendric<\/strong> will join us for a never-ending \u201cparty,\u201d imbued with the boundless, Dionysian energy of Balkan rhythms.<\/p>\n
