100 years since the birth of KOSTAS MOUNTAKIS

May 25 @ 9:00 pm

A unique performance that will honor Kostas Mountakis while also commemorating the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Crete.

Kostas Mountakis was a great composer and lyre player from Crete who spread authentic Cretan music throughout Greece and abroad. He was dubbed “The Great Cretan” because he was an inspired teacher who left behind a remarkable body of work. He taught us to treat tradition with respect, something particularly valuable for the new generation of singers and lyre players in Crete.

To enjoy authentic Cretan music with renowned performers and musicians in a selection of Kostas Mountakis’s most famous songs, which are on the lips of all Cretans and beyond… such as: “O Pramateftis,” “O Argaleios,” “Mesopelaga Armenizo,” “Den Thelo Mesa stin Kardia,” “Eftase o ponos stin Kardia,” “Sousta Moundakis,” “Ezeugarosan ta poulia,” and others

The performance will help support:
the Special Education Workshop: “MARGARITA”  and the “FRIENDS OF THE CHILDREN’S VILLAGE OF NEAPOLIS, LASITHI”
